Football Fan Culture, Mediatisation, and Identity in Indonesia: A Case Study of Persib Bandung Supporters

While studies focusing on Indonesia often overlook football fan culture, this neglects the sport’s complex and politicized nature, a feature dating back to the colonial era. In recent years, media exposure has further complicated the landscape of Indonesian football.

To delve deeper into this issue, Aulia Hadi, a graduate of the Center for Cultural Policy Research at the University of Glasgow, conducted research on the supporter community of Persib Bandung. As one of the largest football fandoms in Asia, this study sheds light on the intricate connection between media, politics, and fan identity.
