It is widely accepted that government expenditure has the power to generate a multiplier effect and stimulating economic growth. However, excessive government expenditure, particularly when funded by debt, has the potential to exacerbate economic conditions. Conversely, what are the consequences that ensue when the government is compelled to implement budget cut? In fact, macroeconomic data does not consistently exhibit linear patterns. The analysis of macroeconomic data needs to consider the presence of non-linearity or asymmetry effects to offer a more thorough and accurate analysis.
On this second Seri Diskusi “Pembangunan Ekonomi”, Arfan Udi Winasis ( University of Manchester ) will deliver his keynote regarding the aforementioned issues he found in his research on Friday, 22 September 2023 at 16.00-18.00 BST.
