Indonesia Carbon Market Development Report
A Guide for Indonesian Companies and Policymakers to Seize Carbon Trading OpportunitiesCarbon trading is the product of the Kyoto Protocol that has emerged as one of the critical policy initiatives and contributes significantly to mitigating climate change through reducing greenhouse gas emissions committed in the Paris Agreement in the form of Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC). Carbon trading works by setting a limit, or “cap,” on the total CO2 emissions permitted from all sources. As a country with significant carbon absorber potential, Indonesia has the opportunity to take advantage of carbon trading from an economic and business standpoint following the significant acceleration of the global carbon market.
Hence, Doctrine UK and Equatorise are collaborating to publish a report exploring the Indonesia carbon market potential and how Indonesian companies / private sectors can take advantage of carbon market opportunities, both the global and the domestic market, which have begun to be developed. This Report aims to:
- Provide a basic understanding to stakeholders about the carbon trading mechanism and how it relates to the NDC target using a carbon pricing strategy.
- Provide an overview of the existing global carbon market opportunities that Indonesian companies can take advantage of.
- Analyse the Indonesian carbon market’s updates, opportunities, and regulatory framework development.
- Deliver several recommendations for companies to take advantage of the carbon market potential and for policymakers to support the acceleration of the Indonesian carbon market development.
The brief description of the report is attached here, and for the full report can be downloaded here.
